Character's name: Sorata Arisugawa
Character's age: 17
Character's gender: male
Series the character is from: X/1999
Point in canon they're being taken from: volume 14

Brief background:
...Aha. Brief. Okay, LET'S DO THIS.

So. X/1999 is basically a story about how the world ends: in a word, badly. It's prophesized that in the year of 1999, the "dragons of heaven" will face off against the "dragons of earth," and the winner will determine the fate of the earth. The dragons of earth fight for the sake of the earth; humans have overstretched its resources and the earth, unable to regenerate itself, will slowly die if humans aren't stopped. This is a noble cause, in theory, except that they have to destroy all of humanity to do it, which could be a problem. This is where the dragons of heaven come in: they fight for the sake of humans, because saving the earth isn't a bad cause, but killing billions of people to do it is kind of not cool. There are seven people who fight for each of these sides (six aside from Kamui and his twin star), chosen from birth or early childhood because of their strange powers.

Sorata is one of the dragons of heaven, or, the "seven seals," who will, according to Hinoto's prophecies, protect the fate of the Earth when the "promised day" comes. He controls electricity and also has the powers of a Buddhist monk. As far as Sorata himself goes, it was foretold by the monks he lives with that he would protect Kamui with his life, but would die for the sake of a woman. For that reason, he was taken from his parents at a very young age to live with the monks of Mt. Kouya. He doesn't really remember anything about them (his parents) except that his mother was crying the whole time.

Despite all that, Sorata had a happy childhood and has grown up into an equally happy guy. He was looked after and taught well, disciplined, er...often, and came to care about the people he was living with, even calling the old stargazer there "grandpa."

Around the time when Kamui's mother passed away, Sorata was summoned to see the stargazer at Mt. Kouya. He was told that Kamui would return to Tokyo. He left Osaka, then, to pursue the fate that had been foretold to him -- to protect "Kamui" of the "Dragons of Heaven." What he finds in Tokyo, however, is a "Kamui" who is uncertain of who he is, or his hand in the prophecy. Determined to contact Kamui before the Dragons of Earth, he quickly ends up in a fight with one of them --Kigai Yuuto-- which is interrupted when an unsuspecting Fuuma bikes through</strike> walks right into Sorata's kekkai -- the alternate dimension their fight is taking place in. They put aside their need to fight for the day and Sorata ends up contacting Kamui. And nearly getting blown up by him. And freaking Fuuma and Kotori out, but really, this is all typical Sorata-behavior.

In any case, he sticks to Kamui's side like glue for a while, explaining a few precursory details about what he knows from the stargazer at Kouya and attending the funeral of Fuuma and Kotori's father. They meet Tokiko there, who reveals herself to be Kamui's aunt -- his only living relative. But they're interrupted before she and Kamui have a chance to properly talk, when a kekkai is put up near the Togakushi shrine; Sorata follows Kamui there. Though the danger is quickly averted, when they return to Tokiko's home, they find it burning -- she is nowhere to be found.

This is around the time when Sorata meets Arashi. Upon their first meeting and talk, he declares "I choose you," a phrase that seems random and unimportant...it's quickly brushed aside in favor of more important discussion. Like the end of the world and stuff. Unsure of what to do next, Sorata takes everyone out for Korean barbecue (this is obviously the most imperative course of action), where he explains the origins of Kamui's family. Then it's onto business; the three of them go to see Hinoto, the dreamseeing princess beneath the Diet Building.

This 'brief background' is already turning out to be not-so-brief, so let's try and speed this up: Kamui goes ballistic until Hinoto promises to explain things she has kept from him. At this point, Sorata makes a promise to Kamui: that if he's in trouble, Sorata will put himself in the way, and protect him. It may seem like teasing to Kamui, but Sorata is 100% serious about it -- protecting Kamui is his destiny, after all. Kamui and Hinoto go into a dream; he's still cranky when he wakes up from his naptime, but before he can do any serious harm (like bring down the building. come on, Kamui, getting all huffy and about-to-set-things-on-fire in a BASEMENT? not exactly smart), a wolf appears! Man, you really can't make this stuff up, can you? It's actually an inugami, and it belongs to another dragon of heaven -- Yuzuriha. She bodyslams her way into the story, shatters the tense mood without even meaning to, and comments on Kamui's height. Sorata is almost in tears on the floor from laughing so hard about it. Then, the mood is shattered once again when the entire area is plunged into an illusion; it doesn't take long for Kamui to get pissed off (again) and use his power to destroy it. Hinoto declares it the work of "Sakurazukamori," but says little more to explain who he is. It's basically implied that he's batting for the other team, though -- the "dragons of Earth," I mean.

With a moment of relative peace and quiet on their hands, the current dragons of heaven split up for a bit to look for the remaining ranks of the seven seals. Sorata hangs around to be a voyeur in Kamui's general vicinity; he and Arashi have a brief encounter with Karen, another of the seven seals, have a dynamic conversation while sitting in a tree (really, CLAMP?), and decide that they should next investigate the current head of the Sumeragi clan -- everyone's favorite fluffy spaz, Subaru. Who is no longer fluffy nor spazzy, but you know how it goes with that heart-shattering angst. In any case, calling the Sumeragi family in Kyoto reveals that Subaru isn't there -- he's in Tokyo. Unfortunately, because of this search, Sorata misses out on some Pretty Important Stuff happening to Kamui -- his aunt blowing up, his BFFs going crazy, that kind of thing. The second Holy Sword is born during this time, and one of the kekkai protecting Tokyo is broken: the Nakano sun plaza. Sorata and Arashi go to investigate -- there, they find Subaru. Or rather, chase him, since he's running to fight on his own. He and Seishirou fight --Sorata points out that the two of them were so powerful, he and Arashi couldn't even move-- and then... Well, that's when bad shit starts happening.

Being as far away as they are at this point, Sorata, Arashi and Subaru miss most of it, but they certainly feel it: Kamui chooses a side to fight for in the final battle. Unbeknownst to him, this also means that Fuuma, his most trusted friend, is destined to fill the other role. Fuuma, therefore, goes crazy, kills his sister, and stabs Kamui with like five different types of sharp pointy objects. This is when Sorata and the others arrive...just moments too late. Fuuma --or "Kamui," now-- leaves, Kotori is torn to shreds, and Kamui's mind snaps. When he's taken to a hospital, his wounds begin to heal physically, but for a little while, Kamui remains entirely unresponsive. It takes a special spell from Subaru, who dives into his heart, to draw him out. After that, Sorata and the others remain at the hospital while he recovers, both physically and mentally. Sorata says a prayer for Kotori, as do the other seals (as all have gathered together now, including Karen and Aoki). They then follow through with Tokiko's last wish: to protect the Holy Sword by sealing it away beneath the Clamp Campus. They visit Hinoto once again, to answer some of Kamui's questions, and thus the wait for the "promised day" of 1999 begins.

Sorata, Arashi, Yuzuriha and Kamui stay together for a while at this point, attending the Clamp Campus schools while looking for more information on the dragons of earth (and what kekkai they will be after next), and guarding the Holy Sword. They come up against the dragons of earth on several occasions, and "Kamui," as well. He mortally wounds Subaru by injuring his eye; because he's close to death, the kekkai he put up dissolves, and the area of Ikebukuro where the fight took place is destroyed. Kamui meets Segawa Keiichi at this time, and becomes friends with him -- something Sorata is glad to see, after he's been through so much hardship. I mean, really, it's depressing how much bad stuff happens to that kid. In any case, aforementioned paincushiony kid gets tangled up in another fight with "Kamui;" this time, Sorata and Arashi arrive in enough time to stop him from being injured more seriously than a few broken ribs and some scars. (Yuzuriha, meanwhile, is tied up in fighting with Satsuki.) "Kamui" departs, leaving the destruction of another kekkai in his wake. In the midst of the destruction, Yuzuriha goes missing; Sorata, Arashi and Kamui attempt to search for her while also keeping tabs on the dragon of earth. At the point I've taken him from, this is just about the last we see of him in canon. In a moment alone with Arashi, he confesses his feelings to her in a more serious way than the several times he's done so previously; this encounter is interrupted but leaves her strangely thoughtful.

Personality:
It's very likely that when you first meet Sorata, your impression is going to be that he's loud, annoying, and kind of an idiot. Your impression...wouldn't be totally wrong. Sorata is kind of --and by "kind of" I mean "completely"-- a loud and friendly guy with a weird sense of humor that sometimes gets him into trouble or makes him seem weird. Making up silly stories and outright stating that he's lying? Sure! Coming up with jokes that border on dirty? Any time! Silly bantering with the enemy and complimenting him? It wouldn't be Sorata otherwise!

I guess you might say that he doesn't have a whole lot of shame, in most instances. He speaks his mind pretty often and, as implied above, has been known to make jokes that could be construed as being almost perverted. (Like when he says not to assume that an earthquake occurred because he and Arashi woke up at the same time) He also kind of fails at logic, in really silly ways -- like stating that the dragons of heaven will win because they're all really beautiful, or that you have to pick the person you fall in love with because destiny can't be changed.

But the sillyness isn't all there is to Sorata: underneath that layer of absolute strangeness, he's actually a pretty intuitive and perceptive guy. He notices things, and he reads people well -- almost eerily so, sometimes. Understanding people isn't really so hard for him, and because of that, he tends to stick his nose into other peoples' business. A lot. If someone's upset, he's not going to just sit around and wait for them to feel better, he'll do whatever he can to help. He becomes friendly with --and even attached to-- people fast; literally, sometimes, because he tends to persistently keep up with people that are important to him like Kamui and Arashi. Not just like a clingy puppy, though -- he's open and friendly to the point where he comes to care for people pretty easily.

His ability to read (to an extent) what the people close to him are feeling makes him excellent at easing discouragement or negative feelings. He can't always empathize, but he can certainly find the words to make people feel better. A little like an older brother, in a way. In addition to that, because he was raised by the monks of Mt. Kouya, Sorata is a wealth of information regarding the spiritual and supernatural. He easily guessed at what shrine Arashi was affiliated with, as well as her position there, and was the source of a lot of explanation for the opening parts of the story.

It may seem a little weird for a guy who has known about "the end of the world" (and who knows about his destined fate) since childhood to be so easygoing, but that's just now Sorata is. He's not the kind of guy to walk around acting like the world's on his shoulders -- hell, Kamui does that enough for ten people anyway, right? Sorata accepts his destiny, he takes pride in it. Being able to help save the world (hopefully), to die protecting a woman he loves -- he doesn't think it's such a bad thing. And in general, he's not the sort who lets things get to him. Even if he didn't grow up with his parents, he had a happy childhood: he's constantly looking at that bright side of things. In a way, it's very down-to-earth; if something bothers him (like not knowing Arashi's feelings about him), he deals with it when he can and pushes it to the side when he needs to take care of something more pressing.

All in all, in a story where everyone is fucked up and half the population of Japan is either dead or dying, Sorata is an eerily well-balanced guy with a pretty good head on his shoulders. Not to say that he's a completely normal person, of course, because he wouldn't be in X if he was, but he often serves as the voice of reason and determination (and crack, of course) in an otherwise very grim story.

Sample Journal Post

[Sorata, being Sorata, has been chatting with the WC ladies for a while...but all that amiable banter isn't really getting him anywhere, so he's glancing at that journal again.]

So this thing's mine, an' I'm supposed t'use it if I wanna get out of here, right? Outta the building, that is, although with everything goin' on, I wouldn't complain for bein' sent home, too! Or I can use it t'see if there's anyone out there I know. Just start writin' in it, right?

[...]

[n_n;;] All right, I think I get it!

[Written:]
Dragging a guy into the middle of nowhere at an important time is pretty impolite, you know. The pretty ladies here weren't too helpful, either! Anyone out there? See, like I said, I was in the middle of something important, and I was hoping t'get back to it quick.

Now, they did say I might recognize a few people here, and if that's the case! I'm looking for a couple beautiful people: a gorgeous girl with long black hair --that's Arashi, but she answers to Neechan when I call her that-- and a shorter guy, who has black hair too. That's Kamui, and he's a lot more personable than he looks, he's just gotta warm up to some people.

[...] And a cute girl with dark hair, that's Yuzuriha-chan. She was-- The others I'm not so concerned over, but for those three, we were together before I got here, so I wouldn't wanna worry them, after all!

Oh-- and my name's Arisugawa Sorata, but since it's cuter, you all can call me Sora-chan!

Character's name: Yama.
Character's age: Unknown other than teeny. Er. Let's say 14-ish, maybe?
Character's gender: Male.
Series the character is from: RG-Veda.
Point in canon they're being taken from: Before Rasetsu runs away from the Yasha clan.

Brief background: Yama is the oldest son of the chief of the Yasha clan, but he is also the son of his concubine, not his legal wife. This didn't make him unloved or unwanted, but it did make him believe that his younger brother, Rasetsu, probably resented having to call him older brother, as well as making him worry that people could have believed he wanted to be their father's successor into becoming the future Yasha-ou.

The Yasha clan is still considered a new clan among Tenkai's clans, and they're thought as the strongest and most fearsome warriors after the death of the Ashura clan. Yama, in particular, shows great promise of strength and power. It's very obvious that Yama loves the Yasha clan and its people and that he wants the very best for them.

Yama is determined to help his brother become the next Yasha-ou and always help him. He's very proud of Rasetsu and after Rasetsu tells him how he has never hated him, things seem to go smoothly for them for a while... at least until Yama's mother dies and then, a while later, Rasetsu and Yama's father tries to decide which one of his sons will succeed him.

At one point in his life, Yama met the former Ashura-ou and befriended him. The lord of the Ashura clan then asked Yasha what he'd do if his most important person was going to bring only tragedy to his life, to which Yama said that he'd only protect that person even more... which will come back to him in about three hundred years or so, give or take a few.

Personality: Yama is a serious and quiet kid mostly, who seems to be a bit awkward when people are direct with him. He's also very kind and responsible, and once he makes a promise he will do his very best to keep it.

While he's also a bit awkward and gloomy, he can also be cheerful and like his older self, he's still very kind.

Sample Journal Post:
The women here refuse to give me a proper answer. I hope that what they say it's true and these books can give me the answers I seek.

Why was I brought here and what task do I have to accomplish to be sent back? I promised my brother [The strike is see through] ... I have to go back to my clan as soon as I can.

So tell me why was I brought here and then send me back to the Yasha clan.

Fifth Character | The yaobikuni (mermaid eater)
[info]unluckyflower
2010-12-04 11:03 pm UTC (link)
Contact info same as always, frog shenanigans, and jfc it’s been forever since I’ve apped someone. Also, my timing is horrid, but oh well.

Character's name: None in canon (I’ll figure a name out…)
Character's age: Faaaaar older than she appears
Character's gender: Female
Series the character is from: xxxHOLiC
Point in canon they're being taken from: After chapter 200, when she gives the pearl to Watanuki

Brief background:
Not much is known about this woman before Watanuki crosses over into her companion’s apartment. In search of a “crimson pearl” the spider matron sent him to find, Watanuki uses his magic to cross over into a dream, and is shocked when he meets with an injured woman who can not only sense his presence, but can see him, hear him, and communicate with him. For her part, she seems completely unfazed by this, but Watanuki is understandably disconcerted by this – no one is supposed to be able to see him or speak with him when he crosses over. She calmly asks him if he is a friend of the man who “allows” her to stay there – she does not consider herself as “living” there. When Watanuki remarks on the fact that she is injured, she, still calm and unfazed, says, “So I am.” Watanuki soon learns that the horrible mess and destruction around them, her injuries, are because of this woman’s companion physically hurting her and lashing out against her, despite her calm efforts to let him know it would only cause meaningless pain. Alarmed, Watanuki reacts too quickly and wakes up.

The next time he visits her, she is calmly picking up pieces of broken plates and glass. She again does not seem surprised to see him. They speak on her injuries, on the way her companion continues to hurt her, and when he admits that he is not a friend of the man’s, and is actually in search of a crimson pearl, the woman, unfazed, asks if the spider matron sent him. When he seems surprised, she says she knows the spider matron and that she’d promised to give her a crimson pearl, should she produce one.

She then says that she is “glad” to give the pearl to the spider matron, and then points towards the balcony. There is a thud from outside and she, once again calmly, tells Watanuki that the sound they just heard was the sound of her companion jumping from the balcony. Some time before Watanuki arrived again, that man told the woman, “It’s no good anymore.” He couldn’t stand to be with her anymore. Having given up on her, on living with her, on being near her, he decided to commit suicide. He became afraid from being with her, she says to Watanuki.

Watanuki affirms that she should be the one who is afraid – and she answers in the negative. She is not frightened because she knows she will heal in time. And time is of no consequence to her, for she does not age. She has been with this man for twenty-two years (at the time he jumped from the balcony, he was sixty-two, and had met her when she was forty). She confirms that she looks exactly as she did when he was forty, and at the time he was thrilled by the idea that she would not age and would remain young. But as time passed, he became afraid.

Fifth Character | The yaobikuni (mermaid eater)
[info]unluckyflower
2010-12-04 11:04 pm UTC (link)
All she’d wanted, though, was to be together with him. Now that he is dead, she says that it doesn’t matter anymore. She lets her mask fall away, and pulls away her bandages. Her hair grows out and she spontaneously gets naked, lies on the floor, her hair draped over her body. Even without the fin, she looks exactly like a mermaid. And, indeed, she is a human who ate the flesh of a mermaid. Watanuki asks what she is, and she says, “What indeed. I feel that I may have once been human… but I have forgotten. Since I’ve lived a very long time.”

She then cries, and produces a crimson pearl. She wonders why it is that the pearl is produced when the person she lived with died, and Watanuki says it is because she is sad. She seems surprised, but then agrees – and is relieved that she can still feel “this thing called sadness.”

She gives him the pearl, and says that it is okay for him to take it because he is the same as her.

With the pearl, Watanuki leaves and gives the pearl to the spider matron. They speak on her, briefly, and Watanuki encourages the spider matron to go find the woman who ate the flesh of the mermaid – because, above all else, the woman is hoping and wishing for someone whom she can be with, no matter what, forever. The spider matron scoffs at the time, but afterwards, when Watanuki is playing a song with Haruka, a song about being in love with someone, and there being nothing that can be done about those feelings – there in the divination bowl is a mermaid’s tail and a spider’s web.

So through all that tl;dr, there is only so much that we can know about her:
- At some point in her past, she ate the flesh of a mermaid (yaobikuni) and stopped aging and became able to heal herself and observe magical happenings – whether she has other abilities is never stated.
- She was with this current human for twenty-two years, and stayed with him even when he became afraid and started to hurt her.
- She knew the Spider Matron, and knew her well enough that the Spider Matron shows concern for her at Watanuki’s shop, and well enough that she would be willing to give her next crimson pearl to the Spider Matron.
- She wants to be together with someone, to the point she would willingly sacrifice her own happiness and health for that chance. And she will keep waiting.
- She’s pretty.

Personality:
The first and foremost way to describe her is calm. Creepily so. She does not react to some strange noodle magic guy being in the apartment only to suddenly disappear again. She does not seemingly react to his questions about her injuries – she does not show any outward signs of pain or distress over being beaten, only calmly explains that she has told her human companion that it will cause “unnecessary” pain. Calmly explaining this does not seem to work, however, as she remarks that he hits her with all his strength. When asked by Watanuki if it hurts, blank-faced, she says it does.

She has a hopeless mentality about that, however. She tells him it will hurt her, and he does not stop. And she admits to Watanuki to knowing that it was hopeless, and that it would not change. She does not heal her wounds because she knows it is hopeless. She knows, or decides as much, that no matter what she does or says, that person won’t change. So she does not try. She merely exists.

She exists, because she knows that time will pass. Time is of no consequence to her, for she does not age. It does not matter to her, supposedly, that she is hurt and she is injured, because she knows the wounds will eventually heal. She was and is okay with being hurt, if it meant that that person’s fear would lessen slightly – the actions taken against her were okay, if it meant they could be together. Above all else, despite knowing that people would age and die around her, she wanted to find someone to be with forever. She is sad, even over someone who beat her and was afraid of her. But it would have all been okay, she thinks, if they could have been together.

Oh, look, it's the world's shortest app!

Character's name: Hideki Motosuwa
Character's age: 19
Character's gender: Male
Series the character is from: Chobits
Point in canon they're being taken from: Volume 2, when he talks to Chii about jobs.

Brief background:
Hideki is a 19-year-old cram school student who's trying to pass the entrance exams to college. He used to live a country life until he moved to Tokyo, and the city still confuses him a bit. His parents pulled his allowance, so he doesn't have a lot of money – he lives in a tiny apartment, and works at Club Pleasure, a local pub (with Yumi).
Before he started working at Club Pleasure, he worked at Chiroru, Ueda's bakery, but he had to find a different job because of his studies.
One night, as he got off work and was on his way back to his apartment, he found a female persocom in the garbage. He brought her to his apartment and named her Chii, since it's the only thing she could say, at first. He decided to keep her even though she was 'damaged' and didn't have any memories, and since then he's been teaching her stuff little by little.

Personality:
Hideki is a good guy. He's caring, sweet and considerate. He's energetic, and he's a hard-worker – he studies hard for cram school because he's determined to get into college.
Hideki's also really honest. Sometimes too honest. He babbles a lot, and sometimes even says his thoughts out loud. He's not really a rude person, but he tends to get carried away – he's actually pretty polite, and easily embarrassed.
Hideki's often notices when people are sad or uncomfortable but chooses not to ask about it. When his friends do talk to him about their problems, he tries to help them or at least comfort them.
Because he's not used to persocoms, his approach towards them is different than most people's. He tries to think of them as computers, but gets embarrassed when they talk to him. He still doesn't get them – he's not very good with technology, and he finds them confusing, but he doesn't treat them like machines.
Even though he treats all persocoms well, he treats Chii even better. He buys her gifts, teaches her stuff, and gets all worried when something happens to her.
Also, he's a virgin :)

Sample Journal Post:
[So after he talked to the pretty Welcome Center ladies, Hideki sat down somewhere and started writing in his journal]

Uhm… Hello? Is anybody there?

Those persocoms told me to write in this, but… They were acting kinda funny, I wonder what that was all about.

So… What is this place? Is this some kind of practical joke? Am I gonna be on TV? [8O] …I don't remember signing up for anything like that, though! [...] Come to think of it, how did I even get here?! I was at the apartment just a moment ago, explaining something to--

[…]

[O_O]

Chii! [sdkhgkshg]

[Runs off to look for her, derp]

Seventh character | Arashi Kishuu | part 1
[info]mataaerumade
2011-04-04 11:46 pm UTC (link)
You have my info and my OTP preferences, so.

Character's name: Arashi Kishuu
Character's age: 16/17
Character's gender: Female
Series the character is from: X
Point in canon they're being taken from: After volume 11

Brief background:
Arashi is a hidden shrine maiden of Ise Shrine, one of the most important Shinto shrines in Japan, as it is the shrine dedicated to Amaterasu, the sun goddess, from which the imperial family is meant to be descended. As a hidden shrine maiden, she is not a miko who acts as assistant to the shrine’s priests but, rather, is a protector of the shrine itself. The hidden shrine maidens are said to be concealing the power of the sun goddess within their bodies, and in Arashi that manifests as a sword she can summon from her hand.

Arashi, an orphan from an early age, was taken in to the Ise Shrine, where her mother used to serve before she met a college student, fell in love, and became pregnant with Arashi. She is found at the age of seven and returned to Ise Shrine, where she trains to be the hidden shrine maiden as well as the dragon of heaven—one of the seven seals destined to help “Kamui” protect the earth from destruction at the hands of the dragons of earth, the seven angels.

At the start of canon, Arashi is in service to Hinoto, the dreamseer beneath the government diet building. After Kamui makes his choice to become a dragon of heaven, Arashi, along with Sorata, Yuzuriha, and Kamui, moves to the CLAMP Campus, in order to stay together and help protect the kekkai of Japan along with Subaru, Aoki, and Karen.

Personality:
At most, Arashi is calm. She is calm and quiet. She is reserved (It took her a while before she thanked Sorata for protecting her against the Sakurazukamori’s illusion underneath the diet building, for example), but has her moments of bluntness and straight-forwardness (she coolly and expressionlessly told Kamui to stop fighting Daisuke because the battle was over, for example) . She does not beat around the bush. She is concerned about the people she cares about, even if she won’t voice such things. Usually it’s Sorata, Yuzuriha, and even Subaru who will voice concern for Kamui, for example. And though she worries, she definitely keeps a step back, and gives silent support.

She is perceptive of some things, but not so of others. She can understand hidden powers and things of that nature (except she was unable to detect the spell Sorata cast on her, in order to protect her). She can understand the deep, heavy topics of The World and Destruction, etc, most likely because she has been taught of it for at least ten years. But humans and their emotions seem beyond her. She cannot read Kamui as well as Sorata can, for example, and is surprised when Sorata mentions that Kamui seems to be happier lately—and is then flustered when she asks if Sorata can read her easily (this leads to a half-confession that is interrupted, leaving Sorata to joke that Arashi was probably relieved to have been interrupted).

She is internal: she thinks critically inside, rarely expression her thoughts until she’s absolutely sure what to say—Which is why she can be caught off-guard easily. She does not like to be cornered into saying something. Usually the only person to do so is Sorata, and he causes her a lot of confliction in her otherwise calm and quiet persona. When it comes to Sorata, Arashi is easily flustered, easily annoyed, and easily retaliatory. At first, she regards Sorata with confusion and vague disapproval, but that quickly morphs, over time, into an abrasive dismissal of all his advances. But, after Sorata shows concern for Arashi to eat—for eating is the will to live—her feelings begin to change, or, more likely, she begins to uncover her feelings. She becomes more flustered than abrasive, often unsure what to say to the things Sorata tells her, and unable to react properly—often flushing and looking at him longingly when he is unaware.

Kazahaya Kudou -- Seventh character
[info]moodforadance
2011-04-12 07:21 am UTC (link)
Your name: Nina.
Personal LJ/IJ (if any!): allira_dream / [info]allira_dream
Contact info:
AIM/MSN/etc: murderinghours/allira_dream
E-mail: nina.dreams@gmail.com

Character's name: Kazahaya Kudou.
Character's age: 17.
Character's gender: Male.
Series the character is from: Legal Drug.
Point in canon they're being taken from: After the end of the third volume.

Brief background: Not much is known of Kazahaya's life prior of the start of the manga: We know - since he mentions it - that he lived with his family, but that the only other children he knew was a girl named Kei who is probably his sister (now, it's anyone's guess if she's actually his sister or if they called each other that since they were so close). Wherever he was, there was some sort of training that, apparently, didn't have much to do with school: Kazahaya admits he and Kei never went to school.

At one point, Kazahaya leaves: he states it was either him or her - in what sense, who knows - but Kazahaya basically ends up on the streets during winter and he almost dies. That's when the not-knight in black coat appears: Rikuou Himura finds Kazahaya delirious and somehow this tugs his perhaps not-nonexistant heartstrings and he picks him up and takes Kazahaya to the drugstore he works at where the owner, Kakei, decides to hire Kazahaya too.

Of course this wasn't just out of the goodness of his heart. Kakei, who is able to see a bit into the future, seems to know more about Kazahaya and Rikuou than they do: and so he hires them both to help around the drugstore and to do extra jobs. Spiritual-related jobs where they have to retrieve things to help others.

And then CLAMP hiatus'd the series. No Fuuma-froggies for them.

Personality:

Kazahaya is very loud, flaily and he just ain't the brightest crayon of the box. He is the type of person who jumps headfirst into things without considering the possible consequences - so far, thankfully, said consequences have been mostly embarrasing things to him than something serious - and, since he can also be a bit naïve, those things happen kind of a lot. Since he apparently grew up in reclussion, there are a lot of social situations where Kaza doesn't seem how to act or he coffloudcoff surprised.

But Kazahaya is also very kind and also very empathic (besides his powers, that is). He doesn't hesitate to call someone coffRikuoucoffSaigacoff names, but when he knows he has done something wrong he accepts it and is ready to apologize.

Kazahaya also seems desperate to get more money - which is why he ends up accepting Kakei's odd jobs without pausing too much to consider things - something to do with him 'having to live alone'.

Sample Journal Post
[Accidental audio]

[So many of you probably have gotten used to the sounds of the Welcome Center and the generic explanations the ladies give there. So then, the entry starts right in the middle of it, something about 'writing your questions']

-- what?! No, no, see, the only question is how can I go back! I'm REALLY not supposed to be here! Kakei-san is going to duck my pay if he finds out I just left the store like that! Just tell me how I can go back!

[Blahblahblah generic 'just write your questions! ♥']

-- okay, didn't you hear?! I DON'T HAVE ANY QUESTIONS! Okay, sure, fine, I have one: HOW CAN I GO BACK?! Or even, 'HOW THE HELL DID I END UP HERE!' I wasn't doing anything weird! For once! Rikuou wasn't even there! For once it was peaceful and nice and I didn't have to deal with him! And suddenly I just appeared here!

[Blahblahblah Miracle Country, people here, "just write your questions! ♥"]

GAAAAAAAAAH! CAN'T YOU SAY ANYTHING ELSE AT ALL?!

[And yup, he hasn't written a thing]

8th character
[info]mommylovesyou
2011-04-23 11:47 pm UTC (link)
It's me!

Character's name: Miyuki
Character's age: Somewhere between 14-17. Let's say 16?
Character's gender: Female
Series the character is from: Miyuki-chan in Wonderland
Point in canon they're being taken from: Post-series (for what that's worth in this series)

Brief background:

Miyuki is just your average high school student: she tries to be on time for school, manage her part-time jobs and dreams of one day marrying and living a normal, happy life. It's just that CLAMP have other ideas. Miyuki has a tendency to get trapped in various (usually fictional) worlds, whereupon their (exclusively female) inhabitants proceed to harass our poor heroine. These worlds include the works of Lewis Caroll, movies, video games, manga, one of her part-time jobs, and X the movie, because not even CLAMP can take X seriously (of course, this also means that, without a doubt, Miyuki ICly ships Fuuma/Froggie). These, er, adventures, besides being seemingly neverending, are of an episodic nature and the chronological timeline is fuzzy at best. It's never outright stated if Miyuki's adventures are because of her subconscious trying to tell her something, a world-travelling power that she cannot consciously control, or just some cruel god with a disturbing sense of humour. Personally I'd go with the first or third option.

Personality:

Miyuki's most pronounced character trait is her desire to be "normal" and a good, proper girl who does well in school and can successfully keep a job. Her ultimate goal in life is to find a good husband, something which would naturally be impossible to accomplish if people were to find out about her various misadventures (thank you, slut-shaming and victim-blaming society). She's spazzy, easily embarrassed and scandalized, prudish and may initially come across as something of a doormat, as she usually goes along - even if reluctantly - with whatever shenanigans the various ladies she encounters are up to, as long as they're not actively coming on to her. She does, however, have a lot of integrity and determination, and there's a definite limit to how much crap she will put up with. Even if actual physical struggle seems to be a last resort for her, she will question the logic of what's going on right from the start. With that said, Miyuki is not one to dwell too much on past mishappenings and quickly cheers up even in the middle of one of her adventures if someone shows her kindness.

Sample Journal Post:

Aaahhh, it's another strange world! And it's full of weird pretty ladies again! I-I didn't understand what they were saying at all except that I need to write in this book, so…

[Um.] Hello, is anybody there? Unless I'm supposed to talk to the book. Th-they really could have explained this better, if they're meant to welcome people. [D|] Either way it doesn't make a lot of sense that writing like this would help me, but in a different world I guess I can't expect it to- [Er, okay, she's rambling]

This isn't Kamui-chan's world again, right? I mean, this place even looks kind of cute, and they women were actually nice… Maybe this isn't so bad! In that case, can anyone please tell me how to get home? I need to go to sch---

[…]

OHMYGOOOD, I'm late for school again! Class has probably already started and I'm still here! The teacher will be so angry and I'll be "that bad girl who was always late for class" forever! Why do these things always have to happen to me?! [BAAAWWWWWW]

In other news, I'm crazy. | ninth character | Yumi Oumura
[info]littlepuppylove
2011-05-13 05:23 am UTC (link)
Contact info same as always. Fuuma + Frog.
Stuff.
Stupidity. Enabling myself. My character tropes, let me show you them.

Character's name: Yumi Oumura
Character's age: High-school age. Around 16-18, probably?
Character's gender: Female
Series the character is from: Chobits
Point in canon they're being taken from: Chapter 8

Brief background:
Yumi is a young high school girl who works at the bar Hideki works at. But before she was a waitress at Club Pleasure, she worked at Ueda’s bakery, where she fell in love with him. Unfortunately, because this is CLAMP, there had to be angst and unhappiness. Before meeting Yumi, Ueda was married—to a persocom also named “Yumi”. After confessing to Ueda, however, all Yumi knew was that he was a widower. Determined to figure out the truth of his former wife, Yumi did an internet search on him and realized just who his wife was and what she did for him (saved him from an oncoming car despite having a damaged memory that prevented her from remembering Ueda or, at that point, function on her own). This, naturally, devastated Yumi. A young girl with plenty of insecurity and inferiority issues, she began to compare herself to Ueda’s first wife and became certain that he was doing the same.

Because of this, it became too painful to be near him, certain that she could never compare to the other Yumi and could not be with him. After telling him that hearing him call her by her name was too painful, she quit and ran away (she does a LOT of running away in this series). After that day, Ueda did not see her. But she saw plenty of him. Mostly because she kind of stalked him outside of the bakery (and she wasn’t even subtle about it; fortunately, or unfortunately, for her, Ueda is about a dense as a bag of bricks sometimes).

Over the course of the series, Yumi acts as a touchstone for Hideki, as one of the many girls he lusts after (before he ultimately realizes he’d rather be a virgin forever with Chii). Though she later reveals she thought of Hideki as a brother, she often waited for him after work, made food for him, and went on outings (dates) with him. Often, however, the subject of persocoms would come up. And Yumi was the voice of disappointment, of a few, within this Tokyo who did not like persocoms. Partly because she doesn’t like what it does to humans but, mostly, because it was too painful for her to know she can never be as “perfect” as a perscom, because she was just a human. She can never compare, especially not to the wife that shared her name and died saving her husband.

Eventually it’s all resolved when Yumi, in her stalking tendencies, sees Chii wearing the uniform Ueda made only for Yumi. She runs the fuck away, crying, and Hideki chases after her. She tells her backstory to Hideki, Hideki is the biggest sweetheart in the world, and, meanwhile, Chii convinces Ueda to finally chase after Yumi. They resolve their differences and live happily ever after at least until Yumi’s parents find out about Ueda and kill him I mean what. (This is all beyond the scope of her canonpoint, but it’s worth mention.)

Character's name: Kendappa-ou
Character's age: Unknown, but over 300 at least
Character's gender: Female
Series the character is from: RG Veda
Point in canon they're being taken from: After her death

Brief background:
Kendappa-ou is the leader of the Kendappa clan of the east (and therefore a god, whee), and the royal musician under Taishakuten’s reign as ruler of heaven. She is the daughter of the earlier Kendappa-ou and the earlier Jikokuten. She is well known as the musician of the court, but only Taishakuten (watch me typo his name a billion times forever) knows of her position as Jikokuten, the forth and strongest Shitennou.

During the war of 300 years ago, when Taishakuten killed and waged war in order to become emperor, Kendappa-ou was just a child who watched her father be killed before her very eyes by Taishakuten. Seemingly unmoved by her father’s death, Kendappa-ou instead vows to follow and serve Taishakuten, whom she sees as the strongest person in heaven and therefore one she will serve no matter what.

And then 300 years later she meets Souma, the last remaining member of the Souma clan, and falls in love completely. She saves her and hides her in her flying castle despite the fact that this goes completely against her master’s will (for he had ordered the Souma clan completely destroyed, fearful that someone would drink the blood of the Souma, which legend says will grant immortality).

Kendappa-ou is the last of the Six Stars destined to destroy Taishakuten. Souma is one of them, as well, and goes with Yasha-ou and Ashura in order to destroy him. Kendappa-ou lets her go only after receiving the promise that Souma won’t die, but she doesn’t like it because she knows that they will fail in their mission. Despite the fact that Kendappa-ou has vowed to serve Taishakuten, she protects Souma from him and when Yasha-ou and Ashura come to her castle for rest and shelter she does not turn them in as she should. She also helps Karura-ou, another one of the Six Stars, despite Karura-ou’s opposition to Taishakuten.

In the end, Yasha-ou asks Kendappa-ou to join them in destroying Taishakuten. But she refuses to ally with her friends, believing that the Six Stars cannot possibly win against him. Unable to go back on her word and believing that the Six Stars will die anyway, Kendappa-ou takes it upon herself to make sure she is the one that kills Souma, because happiness for them was never possible. After she kills Souma, Kendappa-ou commits suicide, stating that there is no use living in Heaven if Souma is not there with her.

Why do I exist.

LOL hi. ;;;

Character's name: Suishou
Character's age: Unknown
Character's gender: Genderless (but because the English language sucks, I will refer to her with the female pronouns)
Series the character is from: Kobato
Point in canon they're being taken from: Drop 23b

Brief background:
Suishou is the angel who took Kohaku’s place in heaven, responsible for singing to the angel eggs until they hatched the new angels.

At some point, she is present at the bridge between heaven and hell, the other-world, where her clumsiness charms (?) Iorogi, the prince of the other-world. This causes Iorogi to have the swell idea that, hey, maybe I should wage a war against heaven in order to get the angel I kind of have a thing for. And he did just that. And it caused lots of mayhem and various, uncool shenanigans. So uncool and shenanigan-filled that eventually it caused a rip in reality and a human girl who shared the same soul as Suishou was dragged into the whole mess. Sickly from the start, she will die because of the war waging in the worlds beyond her own world. In order to save her, Suishou exchanges her life in order that Kobato may live.

Iorogi disapproves hardcore, but Suishou, like any good CLAMP character self-sacrificing angel, gives her soul to Kobato in order that she may live. Before giving her soul up, Suishou thanks Iorogi for falling in love with her and tells him that he returns the feelings. Then she disappears.

Suishou’s presence keeps Kobato from dying, but it stops their time. Kobato (and Suishou) are neither alive or dead, and it cannot continue or else Suishou and Kobato both will ultimately die. It’s unclear how aware of Suishou Kobato is throughout the series, though the end suggests that she eventually learned of Suishou’s presence (since Kobato supposedly lost her knowledge and memories when she went to earth with Ioryogi as her guide).

Kobato spends the series attempting to fill a bottle with healed hearts because there is “somewhere she wants to go”, namely, to the place where the people she loves are. She has a time limit, however, and the time limit is the time it will take for Suishou to disappear.

As Kobato discovers her feelings for Fujimoto and struggles with what she perceives is a one-sided love, her wish slowly begins to change through her interactions with Sayaka and Fujimoto. Suishou, meanwhile, is meant to be sleeping within Kobato. But, instead, she is awake because the time that she stopped has begun to move again. Kobato used an angel’s power to read Okiura’s heart thanks to Suishou’s help. (Though she tells Ioryogi that even if she hadn’t been within Kobato, Kobato still would have understood his emotions.)

Ultimately, Kobato changes her wish from going to where the people she loves are to Sayaka and Okiura to be happy together, so that they can be together and Okiura’s father won’t cause them problems. The not-even-half-full bottle of healed hearts serves as the price for that wish. With that, she disappears (dies) and her wish is granted.

She is, however, reborn and sixteen years pass. Her wish “to return to the people she loves” is the same, even though she’s fully aware that the Okiuras and Fujimoto won’t remember her (except, surpise, Fuji gets bunny’d and he remembers). Suishou is still inside of Kobato in this new life, but she tells Ioryogi that once Kobato lives out her life, after that, she won’t need Suishou to keep her alive anymore and they can part from one another.

After telling him this, she asks Iorogi if he will come to get her. He says yes, because she is his and he is hers.

Zashiki-Warashi | xxxHOLiC | 6th (5th?) chara.
[info]swan_song
2011-09-01 08:10 am UTC (link)
Hi JL, we love you like a Fuuma loves his froggie. :D;;;

Your name: Ana
Personal LJ/IJ (if any!): Anasaurus
Contact info: You has it.

Character's name: Zashiki-Warashi
Character's age: Unknown
Character's gender: N/A
Series the character is from: xxxHOLiC
Point in canon they're being taken from: Post Chapter 121.

Brief background: The Zashiki Warashi is by definition a house spirit, said in legends to be one resembling a child of either gender; in this case actually appearing as a timid, but cute young woman. She enters the story fairly early on, during Valentine's Day, when she accidentally removes Doumeki's soul by taking the food (or chocolate, rather) in his stomach so that she may give it to the boy she developed a crush on: Kimihiro Watanuki. When she's unable to present the chocolate to Watanuki after taking it (and not knowing what the concequences there on were to be), Zashiki-Warashi runs away and is promptly followed by Watanuki himself--though not without the protective interferrence of Zashiki-Warashi's guardians, the Karasu Tengu. After a messy chase, she does manage to give the chocolate to a very surprised Watanuki. As it turned out, all she wanted was to be able to give him the best chocolate on that special day.

Later, once White Day rolls around, we get to meet Zashiki-Warashi again, at her home in a pure spiritual mountain. Here, Watanuki talks to her (surprising her a little too much, as she manages to fall into water from the shock) and presents her with a pair of hairclips--his return gift for the chocolate she "gave" him on Valentine's Day. We see Zashiki-Warashi cry from joy, thanking Watanuki for the present.

When Watanuki loses his eye to the spider matron, in what seems to be a stroke of braveness from her, Zashiki-Warashi goes to attempt to get his eye back. She knows this would be incredibly dangerous to her, as a spirit who is sensitive to evil auras like the spider queen's; even so, she goes without hesitation. The attempt is a failure, unfortanately, and she ends up captured by Jorougumo. Watanuki saves her, though still losing his eye, much to Zashiki-Warashi's sorrow. She apologizes and cries for him, deeply moved by seeing any kind of ill come to him. We see evidence of this later on as well, when she, together with the rain spirit Ame-Warashi, visits Watanuki upon his recovery after falling from a window. She worries and asks if he's really all right, though running away to hide when he reassures her with a bright smile. Content that Watanuki did indeed recover properly, she goes home with Ame-Warashi, floating away via umbrella.

Saya "Kisaragi" | Blood-C | 6th chara | Pt 1
[info]pure_blooded
2011-10-09 10:42 pm UTC (link)
Your name: Ana
Personal LJ/IJ: Anasaurus @ LJ/plurk
Contact info: You has!

Character's name: Saya, Saya Kisaragi
Character's age: Unknown
Character's gender: Female
Series the character is from: Blood-C
Point in canon they're being taken from: Episode 8

Brief background: CONTAINS SPOILERS.
Not much is known about the origins of the quiet but powerful vampiress simply named "Saya"--said to be a non-human creature with the form of a beautiful girl, different and "special" compared to the others like her that are grotesque and thirst only for the blood and flesh of man. Saya is hindered, however, in that due to a contract (or it seems, a price she paid), she is the only one of these creatures completely unable to slay humans or drink from them. Instead, she commits the taboo of drinking the blood of her fellow beings--Those called the aged ones or "Elder Bairn". Even with that weakness, she's is still someone coveted and feared by the U.S. and Japanese governments, captured only when a man we later come to know as "Fumito Nanahara" uses heavy tranquilizers and sleep gas as Saya fights the super soldiers and one half-breed Elder Bairn who are under his command. When Saya next awakens upon her capture, she finds herself chained and restrained in a room with Fumito, multiple winged infusion sets attached at her back and drawing heavily on her blood. Fumito claims not to be taking it all, but taking a great amount of it regardless, leaving Saya haggard and angry--later we learned he used this blood of hers to be able to control the Elder Bairn as well as "Tadayoshi Kisaragi". The fact that Saya's blood is capable of this power gives hint that she may well be a progenitor of the Elder Bairn; this is only further confirmed in the series as we watch her fight against these beings through the Shrovetide, only for them to communicate with her and ask her to "honor the covenant," seemingly aware of her past self and even mocking her current state, and at one point referring to her as "Mistress."

The outcome of her capture is what leads to the existence of other self: she becomes part of an experiment, perhaps better described as a contest between herself and Fumito, to see if a complete change of environment, memories and even personality and interactions would lead to an erasing of one's most basic true self. Saya, as the test subject, presumably agreed by saying that she would not change no matter what, and Fumito wished to see her instead stay as "Saya Kisaragi," in fact seeking the power of the true Saya, wanting her. Thus, he creates a small world on an island town where Saya starts to lead a normal life with fake memories, impossibly peaceful and with a "cast" of people hired by this man to play along and befriend or forge relationships with Saya. Unfortunately, this setting is not without its tests, as we come to find through attacks by the ever present Elder Bairn that tis the season for them to feed, as had been agreed between these creatures and human beings for ages: That they would fast for a long, long time in exchange for full pass during a period of complete freedom to feast on humans on that specific island. This time known as the Shrovetide.

Saya though, is unaware of this contract and believes she must kill all Elder Bairn and protect those of the town with her sword, as the last remaining shrine maiden capable of weilding a sacred sword. This sword is in fact powerless, as the true source of Saya's blade is a light in her mind that she is able to graps in a crutial moment in battle, giving her speed, power and accuracy beyond even that which activates when her eyes glow blood red.

Character's name: Fuuma Monou
Character's age: 17-ish
Character's gender: Male
Series the character is from: X
Point in canon they're being taken from: Volume 8, just as they reach Clamp Campus, AKA before going bonkers

Brief background: Fuuma’s life started out pretty normal. He had a loving mother and father, Saya and Kyougo Monou, and a younger sister who he cared deeply for, Kotori. His father ran a Shinto shrine and they were pretty much the picture of the perfect family. The person that would become the defining factor in Fuuma’s life, however, was the young boy that moved in next door along with his mother – Kamui Shirou. Fuuma found him out in the rain with a puppy one day and they were friends ever since. Kotori, Kamui and Fuuma spent their days together playing happily; they were unaware of what was going on behind the scenes with their respective parents.

When Fuuma was about 11, it was time for the first of the holy swords meant for the battle of the end of the world to be born. Kamui’s mother was originally intended to be the vessel of the sword, but as he was too young to live on his own, Saya took her place. She died rather gruesomely, and as their father took the Shinken away to place in the shrine, Kotori walked in to find their mother’s corpse. Fuuma lied and told her “that wasn’t mother” and that “mother died of sickness”, but his sister was never quite the same after. Nor was Fuuma. With his mother dead and Kamui having disappeared from Tokyo, it was hard to say that he was ever completely happy again. And while he might not have known at the time, his mother’s death also set him on the path of becoming Kamui’s twin star, the one destined to stand against Kamui in the battle for the end of the world.

Fast-forward six years, and Fuuma had grown up to become what many would consider the perfect son, despite the violence in his past. He was the kind of person who helped his father with chores around the shrine, looked after his younger sister, and saved kids from drowning in rivers. Things once again started to change when Kamui returned to Tokyo and showed up one day at their school. Even though years had passed Fuuma still cared greatly for his friend but was met with a cold response from Kamui. Still, when he found the younger male bleeding in what was Kamui’s old house, he carried him back home and called a doctor for him. That was when things started to take a turn for the worse. After finding himself in a kekkai made by Sorata – something that shouldn’t have been possible for someone not involved in the end of the world – and leading the strange man back to speak with Kamui, a loud sound from the shrine drew their attention and Fuuma found his father injured inside, holy sword stolen. As he died, Kyougo warned Kamui about the end of the world approaching, and tried to tell Fuuma what he was, but passed away.

The days after were a struggle in dealing with their father’s death, but the next time Fuuma saw Kamui, it was when the Sakurazukamori had pulled Kamui and Kotori into an illusion. Fuuma somehow managed to break into and deflect the illusion, but for just a moment after he seemed... not quite himself. His eyes turned cold and he grabbed Kamui’s face rather roughly. The same thing happened later upon having a conversation with Kamui, but Fuuma remembered nothing.

Character's name: Kurogane
Character's age: Not mentioned in canon, but probably 20+
Character's gender: Male
Series the character is from: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
Point in canon they're being taken from: Chapter 101

Brief background:
Kurogane grew up with his mother, who was a priestess, and his father, who was a lord, in Suwa in Nihon, where he was trained to become a ninja.
When Kurogane became a teenager, his mother got very ill, and he tried his best to take care of her since his father was away a lot. One day, his father came back home injured, and told Kuro to stay with his mother and keep her safe. A little later, Kurogane came to check on his mother and found her being stabbed in the chest by a sword (with a bat insignia) that came out of… pretty much nowhere, actually. The sword quickly disappeared and Kuro's mother died.
When she died, the kekkai-thing she built broke and demons started to invade the place, and one of the demons was carrying Kurogane's father's arm, which was still holding his sword, in its mouth. Kuro freaked out and killed all the demons with his father's sword.
After a while, Amaterasu arrived there with Tomoyo-hime (Tsukuyomi) and her ninja army. Kuro tried to attack her since he was still freaked out, but the ninja army stopped him. He killed a bunch of ninjas, but when Amaterasu wanted to kill him herself, Tomoyo-hime told her not to, and stopped Kuro with her magic. She calmed him down and he realized what he'd done.
Some time after that, Kuro woke up in Shirasagi Castle. Tomoyo gave him his father's sword, Ginryuu, but he wanted the sword to be buried with his mother, so Tomoyo commissioned another sword exactly like Ginryuu and gave it to.
After serving Tomoyo for many years, Kuro was already (probably) the strongest man in Nihon. Tomoyo wasn't pleased with the way he fought (he killed his opponents even when he didn't have to), so she sent him away on a journey. She sent him to see Yuuko so he would travel between worlds and learn the meaning of "true strength". She cursed him so every time he killed someone, he'd get weaker.
Yuuko made him give up his sword as a price for traveling between worlds in order to return to Nihon, and since then he'd been traveling with Syaoran, Sakura, Fay and Mokona :D

Personality: Kurogane is stubborn, short-tempered and blunt. He gets really angry when he's teased (by Fay or Mokona, most of the time), and he's easily embarrassed.
Even though he's all those things, he's also really serious and determined, and he's very loyal to Tomoyo (and later to Syaoran, Sakura, Fay and Mokona, too). He's really perceptive – he recognizes that Syaoran's blind in his right eye, and he realizes that Fay is keeping a lot of secrets from them. He's actually smarter than he looks and he's the strongest fighter in the group (not counting Fay and Sakura's magic obviously).
During the journey, Kuro got really, really attached to the group (even if he denied it). While at first he kept saying that he didn't have anything to do with any of them, he quickly became Syaoran's sword fighting teacher, and he always helped them find Sakura's feathers. In short, he wubs his family.

Sample Journal Post:
[After talking to the nice ladies and unsuccessfully trying to leave, Kuro's walking around the Welcome Center with the journal in his hand, which starts to record him mumbling angrily.]

Got separated again, huh. [DX] Stupid manjuu, we weren't supposed to leave yet. [He looks at the journal, unsure] …They said I have to write here in order to leave, didn't they? What a pain.

[So. He starts to write.]

Oi, manjuu, where are you? [She must be close, since he understood the WC ladies] Mage, kid, princess, you too. [Not sure who can read this, but he needs to find them].

What the hell is this place, anyway? [Feels so stupid doing this =A=] I've written something, so at least I can leave now, right?

Character's name: Subaru
Character's age: Unknown
Character's gender: Male
Series the character is from: Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE
Point in canon they're being taken from: Right after Acid Tokyo arc

Brief background:
Not much is known about Subaru’s background before the series: we know that he is a pureblood vampire and that Kamui is his twin. At some point in his past he met with Seishirou, and, for an unknown reason, gave him some of his blood. After that, he and Kamui left their homeworld to flee from Seishirou (the circumstances that led to this decision are never explained), and did so by wishing for a way to travel across dimensions from Yuuko.

After travelling through different worlds, they eventually ended up in Tokyo, near the underground reservoir in the Tochou building. They realized that there was a great power in the water, and this same power draws Subaru in, forcing him into a deep sleep. Right before the water completely drags him under, Subaru apologises to Kamui and asks him to wait for him to wake up.

When the Main Five arrive in Tokyo, Sakura, who is asleep when they get there, is drawn to the same power that trapped Subaru in her sleep. Subaru attempts to wake Sakura up before she is drawn in by the power (which, in fact, comes from two of her feathers that protected the Tochou from the rain), and even when she is dragged under, he keeps trying to get her to wake up – and eventually succeeds, although he later apologises to her for waking her up at the worst possible moment.

When C!Syaoran has taken both of the feathers, Subaru is released from the feather’s power and finally wakes up. Kamui wants them to leave immediately, to ensure that Seishirou won’t catch up with them, but Subaru asks him to wait – the reason for this becomes apparent when, after it has been confirmed that most of the water in the reservoir has disappeared, he feels himself to be the one responsible for it and makes a wish to fill the reservoir again with water. In order to fulfill both his wish and Kurogane’s (which is to keep Fai from dying), he is prepared to give Fai his blood – only for Kamui to do that in his stead, as he doesn’t want to give Subaru’s blood to anyone ever again.

Then, when the Tower people come to negotiate and Fuuma (after it is revealed that he is Seishirou’s younger brother) fights with Kamui, it makes Subaru politely but in a rather chilling and warning manner, request that his brother be released. Some time later he enquires after Seishirou, and seems to be conflicted over the fact that Seishirou, according to Fuuma, is anxious to see him. We last see him, standing together with Kamui, when the Main Five leave Tokyo.

Eighth character (again) | Kurogane (part 1)
[info]unluckyflower

Contact info the same!

Character's name: Kurogane (Youou)
Character's age: Somewhere in his 20s
Character's gender: Male
Series the character is from: Tsubasa
Point in canon they're being taken from: After Celes

Brief background:
As a child, Kurogane was both diligent and dutiful to his parents, the Lord and Lady of Suwa. (Blah blah blah, because this is a CLAMP manga, the poor guy’s going to suffer a tragic past.) The take-away from Kuro’s past is that he loved his parents dearly and they instilled in him his sense of duty, loyalty, protection, and strength. Also that he was meant to be a pawn for FWR (who later used Fay instead). FWR is responsible for murdering his mother and making the kekkai fall, and, therefore, destroying Suwa. Seeing both his parents dead caused Kurogane to blank out and go on a killing rampage that only Tomoyo was able to break him from. After doing so, he swears his allegiance to her, to serve and protect her.

Somewhere along the way, however, Kurogane lost sight of why he was gaining strength. He sought it blindly, killing needlessly and heartlessly. He was angry and restless. When we see him again, in the present storyline, he’s a loud, rude, childish ninja focused only on being the strongest in Japan. And because of this, Tomoyo-hime sends him on a journey. She places a ‘curse’ on him, where he loses strength for every person he kills (but also serves as a protection against any attacks that would kill him).

He’s sent to Yuuko’s shop, where, in order to travel and someday return to Nihon, he must give up the thing most precious to him: his replica sword of Ginryuu, his father’s sword. From there, the group travel together, collecting Sakura’s memories and growing closer all the time.

The traveling seems relatively light-hearted, with some moments of darkness. But it isn’t until they arrive to Tokyo and suffer second-hand X levels of angst that shit really hits the fan. Everything falls apart. Cloney’s seal breaks, and the heart that Real gave to him returns to Real, who arrives to fight Cloney. Sakura is given a memory that shows herself being cloned, as well as acquiring the painful experience of losing the person most important to her. Fay, in his attempts to stop Cloney’s seal from breaking, ends up losing an eye (and therefore half his magic) to Cloney. Because the wound is too great, he will die. So Kurogane makes a deal with Yuuko to save Fay’s life, which causes Fay to realize how close he’s allowed everyone to get to him—and forcefully pushes them all away, even though Kuro’s life was now bound to Fay’s (as his “E”).

Character's name: Tomoyo
Character's age: Around 14
Character's gender: Female
Series the character is from: Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE
Point in canon they're being taken from: After Nihon

Brief background:
Tomoyo is the princess of the country of Nihon and the Tsukuyomi, the miko who keeps up the wards that protect the country from demons. Aside from being the most powerful priestess in the country, she is also a dreamseer, which means she has power to cross over to dreams and see parts of the future. She has one sister, Amaterasu, who is the empress of Nihon.

When Tomoyo is around 7 years old, she meets Kurogane, right after his mother has been killed, and prevents Amaterasu and Kurogane from fighting by first stopping him with magic and then snapping him out of his rage with kind words. After that, Kurogane is taken into the castle with them and he becomes her bodyguard.

Seven years later, Tomoyo is unhappy with Kurogane’s needless killing of those who threaten her, even though she has asked him to refrain from doing that. As a result, she sends him away to Yuuko’s, so that he could find the meaning of true strength. She also places a seal on him that she says will reduce his strength every time he kills someone.

However, in Celes, it becomes apparent that her seal had another function: to protect. Thanks to the seal, Kurogane doesn’t die from Ashura-ou’s attack. But after he kills him, Tomoyo’s prediction comes true: the reduction of his strength that she was talking about meant the fact that he would lose his arm. Later on, when the Main Five arrive in Nihon, two things are revealed: it was Tomoyo who spoke to Kurogane in a dream, when he was in between of life and death, and told him how to save Fai; and she also made a deal with Yuuko, and in exchange of her dreamseer powers, she made sure that the next country they would arrive in after Celes would be Nihon.

The last we see of Tomoyo is when the travelers leave for Clow country: before that, Kurogane renews his vows to serve Tomoyo, and she gives him Ginryuu, while apologizing that she hadn’t buried it with his mother, as that had been his mother’s wish that she keep it for him.

Personality:
Tomoyo is a kind, compassionate and open person who cares deeply about her loved ones. As she knows how difficult it is to change the future, she wants to do all she can to help those dearest to her, going so far as to give up her dreamseer powers in exchange for securing a safe place for Kurogane and his companions to come to after Celes. Said powers, as well as her responsibilities as the Tsukuyomi, have taught her wisdom beyond her years and because of this, she seems older than she really is.

Her presence seems to have a calming effect on people, as was seen when she was able to make the young Kurogane snap out of his uncontrollable rage, and later when she comforted Fai after Kurogane was injured after Celes. Thus, the outward image of Tomoyo is very calm, kind, even serious, especially when she is doing her duties as the Tsukuyomi. However, she also has a more mischievous side. She likes to tease people, especially her sister and Kurogane, and seems to have a unique sense of humor: for example, she derives amusement in telling scary ghost stories to those in the palace.

Character's name: Fay Flourite
Character's age: 31
Character's gender: Male
Series the character is from: Shiritsu Horitsuba Gakuen
Point in canon they're being taken from: The end of the 4th omake chapter.

Brief background:
Fay and his brother Yuui were born in Europe and grew up with a pretty normal life (despite Fay's eccentricities). They were always incredibly close, even for twins, and Yuui was Fay's "most precious thing". One day, however, Yuui left their home country to work in Italy on his own, much to Fay's discomfort. Eventually Fay left as well, somehow ending up teaching high school chemistry in Japan, at Horitsuba! It's a very normal, peaceful school (apparently) and there Fay gets to teach many cute students alongside his coworkers Yuuko and Kurogane (and other, less important teachers). Recently, Yuui was kidnapped (ish) by Yuuko, without Fay's knowledge and now works at Horitsuba with his brother! The kidnapping itself apparently helped bring Kurogane and Fay even closer together, as well.

It's now Sakura, Syaoran, Syaoron and Watanuki's birthday and the characters are helping them all celebrate with a very cute birthday party.

Personality:

Fay is, at first (and second) appearance, a ridiculous idiot. He enjoys teasing people, especially if their reactions are cute and they're gullible, and tricking them. He also has an active imagination, making things up on the fly pretty often. He's willing to cross dress, give backhanded compliments, poke and prod or whatever it will take to make Kurogane yell at him, it seems. Well, he'll tease anyone, but he particularly enjoys tormenting Kurogane, who is his favourite victim and close friend. He doesn't really seem to care too much whether the attention he receives is positive or negative, but he enjoys having the cool (?), friendly and approachable teacher image that he does. In high school he was frequently dragged into plays and stuff, despite not being in the drama club (because that would have made him spend more than a few hours each week apart from Yuui, which was apparently out of the question). He does well in the spotlight.

Fay is very intelligent; he's good at riddles, quick to figure things out and quite knowledgable. If convinced to give real advice, he's a good source! He also cares a lot about his students and those important to him. He's quick to go along with Yuuko's plans, but less likely to encourage the students to stay out late himself or take advantage of Watanuki's domestic skills. Growing up, Yuui was Fay's closest friend and he never really bothered opening up to anyone else, so he's still getting the hang of getting close to people in his own age group. He's still a very friendly man by nature, though. While working at the school, he's gotten closer and closer to Kurogane and has been enjoying himself immensely while doing so, though it took him a while after the fact to notice it had happened.

All in all, Fay-sensei is a kind, light-hearted man who is very rarely described as mature. He's certain no one would have him any other way.

Sample Journal Post

Well, well, well, what do we have here? Oh, it's been so long I can barely remember... A strange, new land, I remember that... Full of cute puppies and kitties! Is this it? Am I back, after all these centuries? Uwaaaaah! [Yes, he wrote that out.] So much has changed, I can see that already! Hmm, finding my way is going to be really difficult!

Oh, well, I'm sure I'll adapt! But, you know, it seems like there's a new rule about when you can leave the Welcome Centre now! Just writing isn't enough, someone has to come give me a hug first. What will I do?!

[Right, all that should get some attention without revealing how worried and unsettled he is to be back here again.]

[... But, it can't hurt to add something:]
If Yuui or Kurotan-sensei is here, they should say so quickly.
